Designed by the industrial designer and sculptor Bernard Scottlander in 1951 and now available through the French company DCW éditions, the Mantis lights are dedicated to the American contemporary sculptor and pioneer of kinetic art, Alexander Calder. DCW proceeded with the new version of the Mantis lights, according to the original and paying attention to the high quality of processing during construction. A characteristic feature of all the lights of the Mantis collection is the asymmetric, soft curve of the diffuser made of steel painted black on the outside and white on the inside.The BS2 puts Mantis' signature arc profile into a wall-mounted version that spans more than 4 feet. Without imposing itself on a space, it stands out above an armchair, dining or work table. Also with functionality in mind, both the long arm and the signature helix-shaped metal diffuser are adjustable.
The Mantis BS2 wall lamp is a genuine design. The rotating diffuser tilts forward and backward weightlessly like the head of the "Mantis religiosa" insect. Due to the special asymmetric shape of the diffuser, the light is emitted forwards. Thanks to the ability to rotate and tilt, the Mantis BS2 allows for maximum flexibility. The arm and stand are available in black, the diffuser is always black.
