ABOUT Peter Raacke

Peter Raacke was born 27 September 1928 in Hanau. He is a German product designer. Among other things, he has written design history with the design of the mono-a cutlery of the mono brand. In the late 1940s Raacke studied at the State Drawing Academy in Hanau, at the Cologne Werkschulen and at the École nationale supérieure des beaux-arts de Paris.
Raacke has created numerous everyday objects that have helped to shape the everyday culture of the Federal Republic of Germany. In 1966, he was the first to develop a series of cardboard furniture made of corrugated cardboard that was affordable to the masses with low production costs and high print runs. He has influenced many young designers as a lecturer at the design colleges in Darmstadt, Saarbrücken, Kassel and Ulm and as a professor of industrial design at the Hamburg School of Fine Arts. He retired in 1994.
Currently he works in Berlin-Zehlendorf with his office raacke design.
