ABOUT Michele De Lucchi & Giancarlo Fassina

De Lucchi was born in Ferrara in 1951 and graduated as an architect in Florence in 1975. In the seventies and eighties, he was involved in radical and experimental movements. He has designed lamps and other objects for large Italian and European brands. It has also designed and restructured buildings for important companies such as Deutsche Bank, Novartis or Poste Italiane. He has known massive success with Giancarlo Faccina having designed Tolomeo of  Artemide, a versatile aluminum light fixture.

Giancarlo Fassina was born in Milan and graduated in architecture in the same city. He has worked in different sectors of the brand and currently is dedicated to lighting design and the design and construction of stands for exhibitions and museums. After graduating in architecture at the Milan Politecnico, he has soon focused his work on light design. Light is his profession, in all its forms and expressions, therefore he has always taken care of every detail, up to the study of shadows, camera angles and exposures.
He won, together with Michele De Lucchi, the Compasso d'Oro in 1989 for the design of Artemide’s Tolomeo.
