Alberto Meda graduated in Mechanical Engineering from Milan Polytechnic in 1969 and, in 1973, became technical director of Kartell, in charge of product development in the Labware and Occasional Furniture divisions. In 1979, he went freelance and in the same year worked with Brevetti Gaggia, then from 1981 spent four years working on Alfa Romeo Auto design. In the same period, he flanked his design career with lecturing on Industrial Technology at the Domus Academy until 1987, and Industrial Design at Milan Polytechnic from 1995 to 1997.
